RECAP: DC Photo Coop Open House
Paulo and I hosted an open house event this Friday inviting many local photographers, models and business owners to the DC Photo Coop. It was quite a success with a good turn out. We had roughly 10-15 photographers of various backgrounds and 6 models and various other people. This was a networking event and also a photography opportunity. I was at the studio from 3pm in the afternoon preparing for the open house doing some basic lighting set ups to help people get started…but in the end, I didn’t use any of those light setups and simply quickly put something together and got it all to work. Didn’t really have much time to shoot, I had spent perhaps 20 minutes with Katelin and 10 minutes with Joshica. (too busy talking…) here are a couple quick ones.
no photoshop magic…just flashes
I haven’t seen Katelin since our last big shoot (pt-1, pt-2, pt-3), and working with her again (even though it was just a brief 20 minutes) made me realise what a great attitude and spirit she has. This girl is fabulous and such a sport to work with. Tonight, I wanted to shoot outside to do some more slow-sync stuff. I suggested to Katelin that we shoot outside…it was definitely warmer than last time, but still a rather frigid 40 degrees fahrenheit. Katelin didn’t wince or blink….simply said “you are naughty” and went about to show me the different outfits. We chose this spring dress thing which provided the least warmth and started shooting outside.
I played with the slow sync flash and I LOVE how these turned out. It is late and I’ve only processed one photo. This was the actual last photo from the quick 20 minutes. Katelin was walking and jumping…there were loads of differnt movement shots. More of this with Katelin to come, definitely don’t miss out!
no photoshop magic…just mirrors
Joshica was the second model I worked with that night. She’s been modeling for a couple years and just lookign to expand her portfolio. She’s got a good figure and this night she had pulled her hair back adn wore a big collared white jacket with silver leggings…almost futuristic. So we tried a few different things. I only had 10 minutes shooting time. This was shot with the mirror on the floor and a soft box shooting into the mirror. The multiple reflection things are created by the beveled edge of the mirror. Quite a neat look. A couple more of Joshica to come as well.
Anyways..work tomorrow and quickly photographing a wedding tomorrow night…busy busy busy.
