Photoshoot RECAP: Katelin Urban (pt-2)
This is the second portion of a shoot I did with Katelin a few weeks back. Part 1 can be found here. Katelin and I took a casual afternoon stroll through DC just grabbing a few random shots here and there. Katelin came up with the outfits herself.
This post will just have a selection of portraits from the shoot.

Just a few quick almost candid portrait snaps.

Katelin had put her hair up which provided a much edgier look.
It was a gorgeous sunny day as well, with bright blue skies…here are a couple of the sunny day.

It was a REALLY sunny day, this was shot with a big 48″ gold reflector right in front of Katelin. The sun was so bright, I had to use the reflector to create some fill. Poor Katelin was nearly blinded as I snapped away. Her eyes even started tearing, but she continued on…now that’s a model.

So Katelin took a break and closed her eyes which provided this quite sensual shot. More photos coming.

Bo, both sets are amazing!!! It is such an honor to be a part of your work!
And that second one down…wow
The top two photos look like really tricky shots to get right. The problem is getting the free flow of hair without blocking the eyes. The first shot doesn’t work for me because her left eye is totally obscured, ruins the flow of the photo because that should be the focal point. The second shot is much better, not perfect but you can nearly connect with the eyes right.
I think to get a photo like this that really works you’d have to stage it completely, which would lose the spontaneity. The hair needs to be modelled so it has that flyaway look, but doesn’t obscure the eyes.
