Photoshoot RECAP: Salsa

Salsa is a brilliant make up artist who I’ve worked with for a couple of shoots previously (melissa, bianca).  After working on the shoots, Salsa expressed her interest in expanding her modelling portfolio.  So we scheduled this test shoot at the Glen Echo National Park in Bethesda.  Glen Echo is an abandoned amusement park with a carousel and neon lights and all.   Marci of Marci Alagio & Co came on board to put together the wardrobe for some of the shots.   Here are a selection of the shots from the shoot.

Love the colours for this shot.

With some sweet words, we were allowed into the old carousel to take some snaps.

The two previous shots were taken with ambient light testing D2x’s low light abilities.

This is one of the first shots we tried to get with Salsa running across the bridge.  The beautiful purple dress had such great flow and sheen.  These movement photos are similar to the ones before in front of the magnolia.  This is the same panning and freezing motion technique.

With national parks, you have to contact the park services to get approval to use any type of lighting equipment (stands, umbrella etc).  As I learned of this the day before the shoot and it takes 4 days to get the permit, I had to shoot with my SBs strapped to wooden posts, trees and whatever I could find.

I’ve nearly caught up with my shoots now…another big one coming up very soon.
