Photoshoot RECAP: Crystal (pt-2)
This is continuing with the studio photos with Crystal and Siccola (MUA). In addition to the studio shots, we also wanted to work in some on loacation shots to diversify the portfolio. The initial idea was to have Crystal act as a model lost in the crowd of tourists. However as luck might have it, once we got to the mall/museum area there weren’t many tourists. No tourists in DC on a sunny Sunday afternoon?!?!?!?!
So we changed plans and went for several different looks. Here is a selection:

With this first shot, I wanted a bit of the busy urban New York style with a sense of movement and the marble buildings. This really reminds me of Bryant Park in NYC.

With all of the shots, Siccola came along wih her apron of brushes and touch up gear to give Crystal a touch up after every few steps, what a sport. With this shot, Crystal stood inside a bus stop and the green is the reflection off the glass.

This shot took awhile to get, as we had to time the lights. We would pace to the middle of the street right when the ‘walking man’ flickers…then Crystal would start posing and I would snap away shouting out directions while Siccola was on the side giving us a count down until to when we would become road kill.

Shooting on location has it’s difficulties. With the studio shoot, I had set up one lighting I was happy with and I simply snapped away. On the contrary, with on location shots, one has to constantly adjust to the varying conditions. Planning an on location shoot is also difficult as mother nature is completely unpredictable. With this shoot, I had initially wanted quite an overcast day, however the bright sun made me change my plan. Gone was the soft lighting idea and I decided to go with more of a papparazzi theme and just straight flash away to get a bit of an editorial style to the shoot. As the saying goes when given a lemon, make lemonade.
