Photoshoot: Booshie Designs (pt-1)

Ginger of Booshie Designs were introduced a while back through Katelin at the DC photo coop’s open house.  Since our meeting we’ve been working on a concept shoot together with her designs.  So finally this past monday we finally got together with 4 custom dresses Ginger made especially for this shoot.  With the four dresses we worked with two models, Katelin and Madeline (who I met at the artomatic fashion show).

Working with the concept from the polaroid shoot with Katelin at her house party.  We all got together for a party of a shoot at Katelin’s house.

This shoot was also a bit of reunion as I finally got to work with Warren again for the make up and hair and Natasha for the wardrobe styling.  Once we all got together at Katelin’s it was a much more chilled out party of a shoot as banter flew across the rooms and we all had a bit of a party doing what we like to do.   Hit the link for more photos.

The dresses in the first set were custom designed by Ginger specifically for this shoot…absolutely love the high collar and pink tulle.  Great matches.  The jewelry from this set was designed by Anna Bloom, who uses gorgeous stones to create these delicate pieces.

This was my first proper shoot with two models and it does have its difficulties…certainly many  more details to watch out for and as well as coordination between model expressions and gazes.  Double the number of models but tripling the number of details.

These group pics were done with the beauty dish high up left and big softbox on the right for fill.

I don’t generally use props in shoots…but thought we will have some fun with these.  So bought a big empty frame as inspired from the Sisley 2009 Spring/Summer ad campaign, although they had a bigger budget and a MUCH bigger frame.

Got to love Warren with the big hair and bold makeup…works great with this style.

Katelin working that couch of hers.  On a side note these shots were all taken near dark in her back yard.  We had a bit of panic earlier during the shoot when it started drizzling.  So my assistant, Joey and I drove to home depot, bought a canopy and prepared for the worst.  After spending a goot 20 minutes setting up the tent and getting everything ready…it stopped raining.   The joy of on location photography.

The high collar is amazing…such great pop of red lips as well!

Having only 2 props made things a bit limiting but I was driven to make it work and make katelin/madelin sit/pose in all the different ways on that chair.

Loved this shoot, big thanks to katelin and chris for hosting the shoot..and for the pizzas and beer…this is only part one of the photos.  We also have the other two dresses with fantastic lighting set up which I love, it’s frozen with movement in the wind.  Those should be ready in the next couple days. Part two  up now.

As of today I am 5 shoots in the hole for processing….patience is a virtue…they are coming though…very soon.
