As promised here are the photos of the higher fashion looks with Mandy of T.H.E. Artist Agency working with MUA/Hair stylist Monae.  The natural beauty looks can be found here.  I had attempted this set of high fashion photos previously, but I think there was a bit of a clash between the wardrobe and the edgier high fashion concept.  But this time I think we got it down.

Hit the link for more pics and lighting/set up explanation.

For the lighting I used the same set up as I did with Meryl with two Alien Bees shooting bare aimed at 45 degree angle at the ceiling and the background.  The light reflects and bounces hence creating a nice even wrapped lighting.  The only thing to watch for is flare as the bright light source has a high tendency of making the photos look washed out.

As for the grid, I used the same plastic grid which I first bought for my shoot with Nicole.  In that shoot the grid was used to create gridded shadows.  For this shoot I set up the grid in front of the camera and shot through the grid.   This ws a simple white plastic grid.  I had taken a pair of cutters and cut away pieces of the grid to create ‘peep holes’ essentially.  One thing to be weary of is the distance of the grid from the model and the depth of field.  As the distance between the two gows, the grid become more and more blurred, hence loosing the sharp edged look.   All this depth of field varies depending on your distance to the grid as well and the ratio of the two distances.   I had to move the grid from pace to place to get the right look and have the grid the right size.

It was great working with mandy who used the simple black/white scarf through the shoot creating various looks.   Monae was also really great at creating sharp edged eyes which go well with the style of the shoot.
