Photoshoot RECAP: Hot Lips are Made of These

Jun 14, 2010 by     4 Comments    Posted under: Lighting Setups, Photoshoot Recap

This past week I worked with Leiloni Cooper on a beauty project.  Leiloni and I have been planning to work together for ages and finally we were able to find the time and collab together.  We worked with Erica from Modelogic Wihelmina.  This time we worked in studio and beauty again…specifically some HOT lips.  Check out Leiloni’s fabulous glimmering lips and flawless lip line :) .

I love this lip concept, very Dorthy’s shoes-esq.  Erica was also very expressive as well.

As a photographer, it is always good to highlight the model’s best features, such as the luscious lips.

ye…so that’s some hot lips…love that underlying richness in colour.  I made newbie error and had Leiloni start on the dark lips first…she had to wipe the dark ones off to start over again, oops on my part.  Note to photographers…makeup is a building process.  It’s always easier to go heavier, harder to go lighter.   Lips are also easier to take off than eyes.  so in tems of makeup/looks, I always start with the natural looks and then bold lip and then bold eye.   simple :)

For those of you lighting people, the shot was done with a snoot straight on at the model in front of a dark grey background.  I had to fashion my personal mask using black cardboard to get more focused spot lighting.

Love this series of beauty shots.  Great job team!  now which ones to use for port

  • WOW!!!! Great

  • Nice use of shadow to frame and isolate the lips.

  • Leiloni I love the lips…the red sparkly ones remind me of a red sequin skirt I saw online…he he…totally clever!

  • The last one for the portfolio, love the originality of it, great work!
